L&T secures rural water supply projects in Odisha

Mumbai : Larsen & Toubro has said its water & effluent treatment business has secured rural water supply projects in Odisha.

The company did not disclose the worth of the projects, but said in a statement that these are "significant contracts for individual rural water supply projects" by the state's Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department.

L&T classifies 'significant' as projects with value of Rs 1000-2500 crore.

The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) orders have been secured for execution of individual rural water supply projects in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts.

The aggregate scope of work includes design, engineering, supply and erection of 5,828 km of transmission and distribution pipelines, construction of three intake structures of aggregate capacity of 82 million litre per day (MLD), three water treatment plants of aggregate capacity of 78 MLD, pumping stations and water storage structures.

The project involves automation, including measurement of input and output water quantity and quality at each level through suitable SCADA and other instrumentation works. This will cater to drinking water for 919 villages in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

The business has also secured add-on orders from some of its existing projects, said L&T in a statement, without disclosing any details.
