VA Tech Wabag bags Rs 296 crore order from DJB

New Delhi : India's leading water technology major VA Tech Wabag has secured an order from Delhi Jal Board (DJB) towards rehabilitation and up-gradation of the 182 million litre per day (MLD) wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) at Rithala under the Yamuna Action Plan.

The order is worth Rs 296 crore. The scope of the project includes design, supply, construction, commissioning including operation and maintenance for 11 years. The project will be financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

In efforts to promote the waste-to-energy concept, the DJB order includes Chennai-based VA Tech Wabag designing and constructing a biogas power generation unit from sewage, reducing dependence on the city's power grid.

“We at WABAG are excited at the continuous flow of orders. This repeat order reflects the client’s confidence in us and our capabilities. This is a testimony to the fact that WABAG continues to enjoy the status of 'most preferred supplier' in water and wastewater treatment space", said VA Tech Wabag CEO – India cluster, Pankaj Sachdeva.

Why forests should take centre stage during the water decade

Only a tiny fraction of national biodiversity plans consider the impact of forests on water supply, and only a fraction of national water plans place ecosystems at their centre.
